Teeth Whitening There are two options for teeth whitening at Sheron dental. To clear up a few misconceptions: neither option will weaken your teeth and make them more prone to cavities or breaking. They will not whiten crowns or fillings, only natural teeth. If you whiten your teeth, your old white fillings may not match anymore. Both options run the risk of creating some teeth sensitivity. This is a temporary sensitivity that will go away after the whitening process. If you have teeth that are very sensitive before the whitening begins, it will only exacerbate things, whitening may not be the best option for you.

Option one is in-office bleaching. The process takes about an hour and after that appointment you are finished if you're happy with the results. Some patients chose to have another treatment to get the teeth whiter. Patients who do not want to mess around with at home trays and gels love this option. One of the drawbacks is that as time goes on the teeth get a couple of shades darker. To whiten them again, another treatment will be necessary.

Option two is an at home whitening kit. This option begins with us taking some impressions of your teeth and making trays specific for you. These trays along with a whitening gel are used for a couple of weeks until your teeth are the shade of white you are happy with. This is the option most patients choose because of the flexibility it allows. You can get your teeth to any shade you are happy with.
